Directed by Paul Awad and co-written with Kathryn O’Sullivan, it blends the Southern Maryland legend of Moll Dyer with a modern story exploring isolation, fear, judgment, empathy, and kindness.
Attendees in colonial attire watched local scenes and joined as extras in post-screening green-screen filming. Officials praised its boost to cultural tourism and history engagement, spotlighting the Moll Dyer Rock in Leonardtown.

An exclusive 15–20-minute preview of the independent folk-horror film The Curse of Moll Dyer is set for Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at TechPort in St. Mary’s County Airport. Directed by Paul Awad and produced by Kathryn O’Sullivan (Thurston Productions), the film blends Southern Maryland’s Moll Dyer legend with a contemporary story, shot on location in Leonardtown and featuring local actors and residents.
The interactive event includes cast appearances, a Moll Dyer look-alike contest, themed photo ops, food/drinks, and post-screening filming of costumed attendees for the movie.
